CANDIGARH, India:The Akali Dal (Badal) demanded the release of Parkash Singh Badal and Gurcharan Singh Tohra by Aug. 20, Failing to do so, it threatened to launch direct action, Surjan Singh Thekedar, vice President and Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhinsa, General Secretary, of Aka Ii Dal (Badal) told newsmen at Chandigarh after meeting of the Party MLAs and District Jathe dars, The program for direct action would be announced at the conference to be held at Sherpur village where late Sant Longowal was assassinated on Aug. 20, last year. The meeting condemned the arrest of two Akali leaders by the Delhi police and said that it was a direct encroachment on fundamental rights of Sikhs.
