NEW DELHI: The Union Minister and CWC member, Ghulam Nabi Azad, last week openly threw in his lot with the former Maharashtra chief minister, Sharad Pawar, by sharply criticizing the Union Home Minister, SB. Chavan, for “honeymooning” with the BJP Shiv Sena by attending the felicitation function organized by the Maharashtra government in Bombay.

Much is being read into this development since all three are from Maharashtra, where the Congress unit is five with dissent. The antipathy between Pawar and Chavan is well known but Azad had ‘Chosen to maintain a low profile so far.

He said this was the third time Chavan participated in such functions at the previous tow he had praised the BJPSS alliance. (At the function, Chavan is reported to have said that in politics, there are no enemies.”) Azad said that he planned to brief the Prime Minister on the issue.
