Chandigarh: Four of the seven members of the Akali Dal in the Indian Parliament met the speaker, Mr. Balram Jakhar, and informed him that they did not consider Mr. Balwant Singh Ramoowalia to be their leader in the Parliament.
The members were led by S. Shivinder Singh M.P. from Faridkot. Earlier the Chief Minister Mr. Barnala had appointed Mr. Ramoowalia as the leader of the Akali Dal Parliamentary Party. The four members questioned the right of Mr. Barnala to appoint their leader. “It was a matter that should have been decided by the members of the Parliament themselves and nobody should be imposed upon them,” they argued.
