AMRITSAR: The human rights wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal, headed by Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, last week flayed the Akali Dal leadership for showing reluctance in launching an action program on the issue of abduction of the wing’s general secretary, Mr. Jaswant Singh Khalra, by Tarn Taran police.

Mr. Satnam Singh, in a Press statement, here said that lack of initiative from the parent party was discussed at if ‘emergency meeting of human rights meeting held recently. He said that the meeting had also expressed concern over role of Punjab Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brar who has virtually surrendered before the police.

Mr. Satnam Singh gave a call to all human right organizations and people of Punjab to hold protest meetings on December 10, International Human Rights Day, to get Mr. Khalra released from police custody. The spokesman said that participants at the recent meeting were of the opinion that Mr. Khalra was still alive in the police custody.
