LUDHIANA, Punjab, India: The organizational wing of Ludhiana unit of Akali Dal (L) has defected to U.A.D. This included former Chairman of Market Committees and Sarpanches. Mr. Gurdip Singh Bains, M.L.A., was also present on the occasion. All these persons were welcomed to the fold of U.A.D. by Parkash Singh Badal at the residence of Tarlok Singh, a General Secretary of U.A.D. Ludhiana Unit. Mr. Badal told the newsmen that eleven out of thirteen ex-chairmen of the Market Committees along with various office bearers of the district units have defected to their Akali Dal. Similarly 13 circle jathedars have also shifted their loyalty to his party, Mr. Badal claimed.
