NEW DELHI India: Bhai Manjit Singh brother of AISS.F Chief Bhai Amrik Singh who died while defending the Golden Temple against the Indian army’s attack in June 1984 and S. Harmandir Singh Sandhu whose wife was brutally murdered by the soldiers were unanimously reelected President and General Secretary of All India Sikh Student Federation at a meeting held in the Golden Temple Amritsar. on September 20 1986 Bhai Manjit Singh is the son of Sant Kartar Singh who was Chief of the Damdami Taksal and had nominated Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as his successor. Bhai Manjit Singh and Harmandir Singh are currently held in a top security prison at Jodhpur in Rajasthan on charges of “waging war against the State”.
Schools and colleges in Amritsar were ordered shut on September 20 by authorities to ward off trouble during the elections.
