KATHMANDU: The Nepalese Parliament on Sept, 10th passed an Opposition sponsored no confidence motion against the first ever Communist government of Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari, clearing the way for a Nepali Congress dominated coalition government.

The no confidence motion was tabled by the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, against the nine month old minority government of Adhikani. Supported by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Nepal Sadbhavana Party and one independent member, the motion ‘was passed with 107 votes for and 88 against at a special session of the 205seat Lower House.

“I declare that the no confidence motion against Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari has been passed in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal,” said Speaker Ram Chandra Poudel.

Adhikani, who is in a hospital after he broke his collarbone nan accident last month, was not present for voting.
