TO BE ONE, THIS CAMP IS FOR you!

After the stupendous success of its First Sikh Mothers’ Camp and a persistent demand for more such camps, lIGS announces its Second Sikh Mothers’ Camp to be held from Sept. 2-5, 4988 in the beautiful surroundings of the newly acquired Gurdwara Sahib at Fresno (Gurdwara Sahib Fresno, 2604 E. Dakota Ave., Fresno, CA 93726. Tel: (209) 229-5213

Sikh women have played a significant part in Sikh history and tradition. It is very important that mothers be aware of Sikh values in order to pass them over to their kids. The love and strong emotional ties that some of our older generation has for the Gurus, is a result of the Sikh is a tales of valor heard in the mother’s laps while they were growing up. Kids have to be raised on a daily diet of Sikh nutrients. Mothers who have not had the opportunity to learn the basics of their religion find themselves inept when kids ask them questions regarding their religion.

The IIGS through its new series of camps for mothers is providing them a chance to catch up on lost opportunity. IIGS is giving a call to the Mothers of California and nearby states to come for-ward to learn, to grow and pass the word on to their kids.

The camp curriculum is specially designed to introduce the mothers to the basic fundaments of the Sikh Way of Life and how to apply them to their day to day life. Practical workshops will include classes in Shabad Kirtan and Gurmukhi. Lack of knowledge of Gurbani or Gurmukhi is not a restriction in attending the camp.

The camp will be in session from the afternoon of Friday Sept. 2 to the afternoon of Monday Sept. 5, 1988. On Monday, the last day of the camp, a special Diwan will be held at the Gurdwara Sahib in which all participants will be presented with certificates of participation.
