CHANDIGARH: The Central Government has sought 18 more months to hold the elections to the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC).
The Additional Solicitor General, K.T’S, Tulsi, along with S.K. Pipat and Joginder Sharma, submitted before the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the government could not hold the SGPC polls by February, 1995, as directed by the court because of circumstances beyond its control.
A Division Bench of Justice M.S, Liberahan and Justice M.L, Kaul issued notice of the application filed by the Government of India seeking extension in time (0 the counsel of the Petitioner, G.S, Tohra, the SGPC president, for August 24.
