JAMMU: Railways stroked out star-studded Indian Airlines 5-4 to regain the Rangaswamy Cup, the symbol of hockey supremacy in the country, in the Lifebuoy 54th Senior National Hockey Championship here today.

The Railways, who regained the cup after a lapse of one year, recorded their 19th win in 25 appearances the national final.

Both teams played a lackluster, goalless match for 100 minutes. In the tie breaker Shakeel Ahmed missed the ‘crucial first penalty stroke, which cost the Airlines dearly.

This is the second successive national final to have been decided by a tie ‘breaker. Last year Bombay had stroked Out Punjab at Gwalior.
