PALO ALTO,CA: On Saturday June 24, 1995 Baljeet Singh Sangha, (Son of S. Baldev Singh Sangha & Daljeet Kaur Sangha) of Milpitas, California attended the third annual Northern, Ca, Indo American Spelling Bee. There he won first place. He received a trophy cup, Franklin computer dictionary and also a certificate of participation. He has won the honor of being champion of Northern California in spelling. He will be attending a spelling final in Chicago, Illinois on September 2, 1995.

The bee was organized by Jaysheree Patil, Anju Desai, Nima Gujar, and Maneesha Shah. In the beginning of the competition there were 60 children who first took a hand written test in which the top 50% were chosen (39 children). After this an oral test began. After three and a half hours there was a tie with Balicet and another child he corrected the other’s child mistake and spelled another word right and became spelling champ of North, Ca.

This was third year of spelling bee. His brother Balraj Singh Sangha in 1993 received first place Spelling Bee in New Orleans, Louisiana and went to Washington, D.C. to compete. ‘Good Luck in Chicago, Baljeet! Story provided by: M.S. Kohli, Foundation USA.
