PALATINE,IL: Sikh Religious Society of Chicago sponsored a float and Sikh Americans of Greater Chicago area took part in a Parade to celebrate America’ 219th birthday. The parade held in Palatine, Minois the home of S.R.S. The area Congressman. Phil Crane and the Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins briefly joined the Sikh contingent. ‘The Sikh float was decorated at Palatine Gurdwara compound by volunteers. Palatine Park district also celebrated its 50th birthday. Nearly 100 Sixhs marched along with a float decorated with “Nishan Sahib” and American starts and stripes. Candies and small U.S. flags were distributed to children along the parade route, The parade ended at Palatine community park where the participants had light lunch. The event was coordinated by Rajinder Singh Mago and the parade committee. “This has been a regular S.R.S. event for several years and has provided us a favorable exposure on the streets of Mainstream,” said the S.R.S. President Tarlochan Singh Multani.
