WHEREAS, Vaisakhi day of 1994 marks the 295th birthday of the Khalsa Panthic Sikh nation; and WHEREAS, on April 13,1699, the tenth master Guru Gobind Singh gave a distinct identity to the Sikhs by introducing Knande Di Pahul, transforming the identity of the Sikh and making him the vibrant saint-soldier of the Khalsa Panth; and
WHEREAS, the Sikh, henceforth known as Khalsa, must subscribe to the five KsKesh for uncut hair, Kanga or comb, Kirpan or sword, Kara or iron bracelet, and Katchehra of shorts; and WHEREAS, the Guru himself received baptism from the Panj Pyaras (the Five Beloved Ones) and created the order of Khalsa (Pure) by abolishing the caste and introducing democracy and the WHEREAS, the State of California is home to over 300,000 American Sikhs who have made, significant contributions in the fields of engineering, computer science and medical science.
