PATIALA: Captain Amarinder Singh, one of the seven members of the governing committee of Akali Dal (Amritsar) and former Member of Parliament, has said that his party will contest all the seats in the elections to zila parishads and panchayat samitis against its rival Akali Dalto prove its strength.
Talking to media persons, here, last week, Captain Amarinder Singh said these elections would be contested on the party symbol.
He said that his party would wipe Out both the Congress and Akal Dal (Badal) in the elections to panchayat samitis, The likely- choice of his party for the Giddarbaha Assembly seat would be Teja Singh Badal, Teja Singh is the real uncle of president of Akali Dal (Badal) Parkash Singh Badal. The election for the Giddarbaha seat will be a test case for Akali Dal (Amritsar), asserted Amarinder Singh.
He said that Parkash Singh Badal’s claim that the Sikh masses had given a verdict in his favor by electing his party candidate from the Ajnala Assembly seat would be demolished in Giddarbaha, his hometown.
A large number of non-Sikhs, including Hindus and Muslims, have enlisted themselves as party members, he said.
Amarinder Singh said that Akali Dal (Badal) was losing its charm with the masses. This was so because the rival Akali Dal was one-leader party, he said.
Meanwhile in Amritsar, President of Shiromani Gurdwara parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Gurcharan Singh Tolira has said that any bid by Akali Dal (Badal) to capture power in the committee will be foiled.
