By: Harbir Singh Ransi NEW YORK: Almost all the Congressmen who have been supportive of the Sikh cause had a jubilant victory in last week’s mid-term elections. Whether he was the Congressman from Indiana, Dan Burton or the Congressmen from Long Island, New York, Peter King and Dan Frisa or Congressmen from other states, they were all wearing smiles.
Sikhs all over America were rejoicing their victory last week. We interviewed Dr. Har simran Singh of Long Island who had hosted a fundraising dinner for 300 to 400 Sikhs in his house in Old Brookville, LI, NY and asked for his reactions to such a magnificent victory to the friends of Sikhs. Following were the summary of his comments. “These Congressmen had to win because God always helps those who are on the way to noble cause and who have a good conscience. These Congressmen are with us not for any material gain, but for the simple reasons that they have a good heart and want to help an oppressed community who has become a victim of brutal attacks by Govt. of India.”
He further said that when Khalistan shall be created, which shall be very soon, the names of these Congressmen shall be written in golden letters in Sikh History. The Sikh nation shall be always indebted to them since they opened the world’s eyes to the atrocities being committed by the Indian Govt on the Sikhs.
At the same time, in admiration of the character of the Sikhs, he thanked the Sikh Youth of America, who gathered in hundreds in front of the UNO, for six days to protest the 1984 Sikh Holocaust and against the brutality of Indian Government and, also filled the office of Peter King on Election Day to offer any kind of help that they could give.
