LOS ANGELES: The Second Annual Film and TV Actors Symposium and PAPA Awards culminated Sunday night July 21 in the selection of Veena Bidasha of Yuba City California as the “Most Promising Actress” and Thomas Este van of Laredo Texas as the “Most Promising Actor” each of whom was granted a speaking part in a feature film or TV production.
Twenty Candidates selected in local auditions throughout the United States competed for these honors which follow a weekend of seminars and auditions at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel home of the original Academy Awards in the heart of Hollywood. This annual event is produced by Alvin L-Fast a veteran writer/ producer with numerous feature film and TV credits.
PAPA Mr. Fast explains stands for personality appearance performance and ability The candidates are evaluated on a scale of 1-10 in each of these categories following their performance of a two-minute monologue in individual auditions throughout the weekend by a casting director a talent agent a film/TV director and a film/TV producer. On Sunday night six finalists perform their audition scenes before Acela Dry Board of Judges and several hundred industry guests to the Angeles in 1985 to study performing arts at UCLA and has been preparing for a career in films and TV by appearing in local stage productions and workshops as well as at various supper clubs as a singer and dancer. Thomas Este van lives and works in Laredo where he is well known as a standup comic and dramatic actor at local clubs and theater productions throughout central Texas.
