CHANDIGARH: The Sikh’s Students Federation (SSF) has condemned the raid by police at its office at Amritsar on Tuesday and said the action was uncalled for as no case was pending against any one present there.

Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla general secretary of the federation said that the police arrested the SSF president Bhai Rajinder Singh Mchta and four others during the raid and the assistant office secretary Bhai Gurdip Singh was killed in the police firing.

According to him the police version that some militants were present in the office proved wrong He said the police action lasted for two hours during which harassment was caused to many persons Bhai Chawla said the arrested persons included Bhai Dharamvir Singh and Bhai Baljinder Singh.

He said the raid at the office located at Bhai Mehta’s residence was totally unprovoked and the police could not find any arms there.
