CALCUTTA: The ruling Left Front in West Bengal Monday secured an absolute majority in the 294-member state assembly, bagging 178 seats till Monday afternoon, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) sources said.
The CPI-M, a major constituent of the Front, captured 139 seats On its own while the Opposition Congress-I so far bagged 33 seats followed by Gorkha National Liberation Front3 and Suci 2, the sources said,
‘The results of 156 of the 294 seats had been officially declared.
