NEW DELHI: Erstwhile Indian ruling party Janata Dal Tuesday told the president that elections were the only way out of the “all-round political confusion” facing the country now.
Janata Dal president S.R. Bommai and Prof Madhu Dandavate met R. Venkataraman at the Rashtrapati Bhawan (president’s house) for 40 minutes and discussed with him the present political and economic situation.
Bommai later said Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress (I) was indulging in its “old game” of engineering defections from the JD (S).
