NEW DELHI: Chief national hockey coach Jhaman Lal Sharma resigned from his post following India’s poor performance in the fifth Indira Gandhi International Gold Cup Hockey Tournament which ended here on Jan 22nd
India finished a poor third in the tournament after being held 2-2 draws by an unfenced youthful Holland team.
Mr Sharma gave enough hint of his quitting the post when he did not go to receive the prize from chief guest Rajiv Gandhi but sent his assistant Inam Ur Rehman
Mr Sharma who took over as the chief coach following India’s debacle in the World Cup at Lahore tendered his resignation to Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) president R. Prasad.
