SAN JOSE: Mayor Susan Hammer held a press conference on Oct.13 at City Hall to announce the formation of “Mayor’s India Earthquake Relief Committee.” The conference was attended by 40 leaders of Santa Clara Valley Charitable Organizations and financial institutions, Mayor Susan Hammer asked the residents of San Jose to make one dollar per household commitment to assist the 20,000 San Jose Indo-Americans in helping the victims of earth quake, Mayor appointed Annie Dandayati, an Indo-American leader, as the Chair of the committee to spearhead the relief efforts. Mohinder S.Mann, a San Jose community activist, said “Indo American Community has been active in assisting the needy in San Jose and it was an honor to receive overwhelming and generous support from the San Jose Community to alleviate the suffering of people in India, Earthquake relief donations can be made to Charitable Care Foundation and forwarded to the Mayor’s committee at 1027 W.Taylor St., San Jose, Ca 95126.
