GUWAHATI: One United Liberation Front of Assam militant was injured and 76 others nabbed by the army, police and paramilitary forces overnight Sunday even as the stalemate over the kidnapping of six persons by the out it continued for the 113th day Monday in Assam.
On a tip off, the army laid an ambush near the Tezpur railway station Sunday and shot at an ULFA militant who tried to escape, official sources said.
Two other militants managed to flee leaving behind some arms and ammunition. The injured militant was admitted to a hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.
An unidentified decomposed body of a girl was found from a thatched house at Azara Kahikuchi in Kamrup distinct near this state capital Sunday. One person was arrested, sources said.
In a search operation, army recovered R.s 75,000 al Nakhroi, six kms from Tezpur Sunday.
The divisional forest officer of the Assam state zoo, a suspected ULFA supporter, was arrested by the Guwahat police Sunday, the sources said.
