AIZAWL (PTI): Indian Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao on Noy.26sought the cooperation of Bangladesh in repatriating the 50,000 Chakma refugees sheltered in Evacuee camps in northeast Indian state of Tripura for about seven years.

The Prime Minister who was in the capital city of northeast Indian state of Mizoram on a two-day election campaign tour for Congress l, told a news conference Friday that talks had been held between the two countries to re solve the problem. He was hopeful that it would be settled by the nations.

 

He said he was aware that the MNF was the main political rival of the Congress I in the state but he deliberately did not refer to them in his election speeches as he felt it was the BJP with its emphasis on religion which was posing a threat to the communal harmony of the country.

Rao said there was no political implication in his not referring to the MNF.
