AMRITSAR: Families of policemen living in isolated places in villages have been asked to shift to protected and safe places, the D.I.G. Border range, R.S. Chalia, said Thursday.
He said here this was being done after a recent spurt in the killings of family members of policemen by militants, particularly in the villages.
Meanwhile, official sources said here the migration of families of policemen had already begun in Tarn Taran and Amritsar police districts. About 50 families had shifted in with their relatives in Tarn Taran and 20 to 30 families had come to stay with relatives in Amritsar.
