NEW DELHI: The compromise formula evolved by the party high command to resolve Punjab tangle, is likely to be announced soon. Pranab Mukherjee, who held a series of consultations with the dissidents and the Chief Minister, Harcharan Singh Brar, over the past two weeks, has indicated that crisis in the state has blown over.
The high command has requested Punjab leaders not to rush to the press and complicate matters at a time when efforts are being made to resolve the crisis. Mukherjee, who attended a dinner at the residence of Surinder Single, a Rajya Sabha MP, is reported to have appealed to all those present that they should refrain from talking to the media.
The formula envisaged reconstitution of Brar ministry and creation of a post of deputy chief minister. However, the modalities in this regard would be finalized soon.
