NEW DELHI (PTI): Kashmiris demonstrated near the U.S. Embassy here Novy.10 protesting against recent statements by some American officials questioning the validity of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India.
The accession of Kashmir to India was an “accomplished fact and the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir is about the continued occupation of a part of the state by Pakistan,” the memorandum submitted to the U.S, ambassador to India, by Kashmiri Samiti, organizers of the demonstration, said.
Terming the American official’s statement as interference in India’s internal affairs, the Samiti said it had given call to the Indian people to fight any attempts to destabilize Kashmir and India, In a recent statement, an U.S. official had said that her country did not recognize the accession of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to the union of India in 1949.
