NEW DELHI: India’s new center-teft government recently said that peace could be brought to rebellious Kashmir by granting citizens greater autonomy. Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s United Front alliance government, sworn in on June 1, 1996, also said that India would hold talks with Pakistan to bring peace to the Himalayan region, which both countries claim.
