RANCHI: The Jharkhand People’s Party (JPP) and All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) have served an ultimatum to the Center, seeking declaration of a separate Charkhand state, by November 15.
Addressing a press conference here Oct.3, the JPP principal chief, Dr.Ram Dayal Mund a and AJSU president, Dr. Deo Sharan Bhagat, reiterated that the Center should also initiate the process for forming a separate commission to demarcate the boundary of the proposed state, based on the recommendations of the Committee on Jharkhand Matters’ (COJM).
Demanding the resignation of all the 81 MLAs’ and 14 MPs’, representing the Bihar tribal areas, SO as to exert pressure on the Prime Minister and the Union home minister, S .B.Chavan for their cause, they also urged for “a separate arrangement with the Jharkhand cultural areas.”
The JPPAJSU leaders also announced that they were willing to join hands with the JMM-S, provided the latter conceded to four of their conditions,
Although the JMM-S had informed of its inclinations regarding formation of a separate state and also served the Center with an ultimatum, it had disapproved the PP-AJSU plea, seeking resignation of its representatives from Lok Sabha and assembly seats, they said.
Besides, the JPP-AJSU combine had extended “informal support” to the Jharkhand Rajya Saukta Sangharsha Morcha” formed by the JMMS to wage a “joint government,” the JPPAJSU leaders added.
We will try our best to persuade the JMM-S leaders to agree on our conditions to pave the way for a “greater Jharkhand unity the leaders said.
Dr.Munda and Bhaga however, ruled out any possibility of an agreement with the BJP on the issue, alleging that the JP’s participation in the united plan would communalize the sue. Meanwhile, in another development JPP suspended its chief general secretary, Suraj Singh esra, for one year from Thursday last and censured his “indisclined behavior” in announcing the end of the 15-day economic blockade on the ninth day if to the press.
