ORILLIA: Young people would be shocked to know that if they do not have certain language or math skills, people do not want to hire them.
The suggestion came up as conference delegates considered ways of improving the delivery of education and training in Canada. Such literacy tests would send a powerful message about the importance of education, Douglas Wright, retired president of, the University of Waterloo said that it would have a trial wave shock effect on young people, their parents and in tum the school system.
