SHILLONG (PTI): The Army has been called to help civilian authorities maintain normalcy in the troubled areas of  lewduh market and Mawkhar in Shillong, Capital of north-east Indian state of Meghalaya.

The curfew clamped on August 13 was relaxed by five hours from 0500 Friday, official sources said.

They said no untoward incident was reported, Indefinite curfew was imposed in Shillong and its suburbs following reports of stabbing and assault as a sequel to Wednesday’s mob violence at lewduh area in which two persons were burnt to death and several others injured.
