A group of four militants went to the house of Pritam Singh, brother in-law of Majitha SSP Paramjit Singh at Virk Khurd village in Bhatinda district and kidnapped him at gun point on Thursday night.
This is the first case of kidnapping of security men’s relation when the militants went on shooting spree in retaliation to the killing of Babbar Khalsa chief Sukhdev Singh Babbar on Sunday.
Militants have gunned down 57 security men and their relations in Sangrur, Majitha and Hoshiarpur districts.
A group of militants ambushed a police party, escorting three militants identified as Kulwinder Singh alias Kila, Jaswinder Singh alias Joshi and Rajwinder Singh for recovery of arms in Hoshiarpur district Friday morning. All the three militants were killed in cross firing when they tried to escape. An AK 47 rifle, a mauser and two kg explosive material were recovered from the site of encounter. In another encounter, security forces gunned down an unidentified militant near Barewal village in Ludhiana district A mauser and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.
A group of militants opened fire on a police patrol party, injuring a constable Jaswinder Singh near Puranpura village in Jalandhar district. He succumbed to his injuries later on.
