EDMONTON: The Sikh youth of Edmonton held a workshop on August 8,1992 featuring various speakers and panelists discussing the topic, “Sikh identity and the generation gap.”
High school and university students numbering some 56 people actively participated in the discussion. It was good to hear our youths’ view point and it must be noted our young people are interested in this sort of activity continuing on an ongoing basis.
In a written Press release by Dr. Harsakash Singh Sandher, President W.S.O, (Edm. Chapter) it was decided in the workshop that a Sikh student association of the university of Alberta and similar organizations at the high school levels be established,
Two to three hours be set aside each Sunday for teaching the fundamentals of Sikhism and pertinent issues facing the Sikh nation at present.
Appreciation and thankfulness” was expressed by parents and other adults for ‘this opportunity’ for” young people to express’ themselves and show they are ready for ” : the responsibility of shouldering nation building,
