LUCKNOW: The BJP MP from Faizabad and Bajrang Dal chief Vinya Katiyar’s attempt to explain away the rape charges against him by a Barabanki girl have raised more questions than it answered.
Katiyar told newsmen that the charges against him are the culmination of a conspiracy hatched by former UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his supporters who have decided to launch a character assassination campaign against him after their conspiracy to get him assassinated through their hired men failed.
The Bajrang Dal supremo however could not produce any evidence to substantiate his charges against the SJP chief except vague allegations that four thugs moving around his Ayodhya residence were nabbed by police He had no answers to the question as to whether the arrested men had implicated Mulayam Singh Yadav or even admitted that their assignment was to kill him. He also had no answer to the question as to why no case of attempted murder and conspiracy had been registered against Yadav.
Senior police officials who seemed eager to denounce the rape charges leveled against Katiyar by the Barabanki girl Kusum Misraas “baseless” were this time tight-lipped. :
The Bajrang Dal chief seemed reluctant to go into point by point rebuttal of a series of charges leveled against him by the alleged rape victim on the plea shat the matter was sub judiciary.
Katiyar said that the members of the alleged rape victim’s family had an unsavory reputation He went into a detailed narration of the immoral life style of Kusums sister and other relatives to support his point that the girls statement could not be taken at face value
Pleading his innocence Katyar said that he was prepared to face any enquiry by any agency.
