LUDHIANA: The Punjab Human Rights Organization has requested the U.N Commission on Human Rights based in Geneva and Amnesty International to intervene to save the lives of Bhai Paramjit Singh Babbar and other Khalsa International activists picked up by the Indian police from Mohali on June 1.
The P.H.R.O. notified the international human rights organizations through its U.K. branch based in London.
The police had arrested along with Paramjit Singh the B.K.I. activist Bhai Amrik Singh Kauli and Paramjit Singhs father Bhai Gurcharan Singh brothers Bhai Mohanjit Singh Manjit Singh and Bibi Jasmin Kaur together with her infant son. Maniit Singh is a minor.
Bhat Amrik Singh Kauli was allegedly killed by the police after detention contrary to earlier reports of his death in an encounter. The P.HLR.O expressed the fear that Bhai Amarjit Singh would be eliminated in the same way as Bhai Amrik Singh was killed by the Indian police in a fake encounter.
