SAN JOSE,CA: Stores worth about $400,000 were burgled from the BJS electronics June 8. Ina daring operation the burglars broke through the security system of the store and were in the process of decamping with the booty in two cars when an alarm was raised. The police arrived just in time to save a major portion of the goods. BJS electronics owned by Sardar Jasvinder Singh, popularly called Jessie is one of the biggest independent stores dealing in sale of computer memories. Set up in 1986, the store has an annual turnover of over $100 million. Jessie when contacted said, “though inventory check is still in progress, the burglars who have not yet been apprehended escaped with over 100,000 dollars’ worth of goods. The loss may have been much greater but for the alcriness of the owner of a neighboring company, Noticing some suspicious movement in his parking lot, he parked his vehicle in front of two vehicles which had been parked there and called the police who came almost immediately. However, the burglars escaped leaving behind their two cars packed with stolen goods. These amounted to more than $300,000.
Jaswinder Singh, a young entrepreneurial engineer from Punjab who came to the USA in 1986 and set up his own business. He is trading in electronic goods and employs nearly 20 people in the firm. Last year too there was theft in BJS electronics in which he lost $1 million worth of computer parts.
