CHANDIGARH (PTI): A sizzling knock of 76 by Navjot Sidhu coupled with a fine performance from the bowlers brought India the much awaited morale boosting victory against England in their second one day international! cricket match here Jan.21.
India, who had lost the one day series 25 in South Africa, leveled the six match series against England 11 as Kapil Dev cheered by an overflowing stadium hit Dermot Reeve’s first ball of the 46th over to the midwicket boundary on his home ground. India won the match by five wickets. Sidhu was declared man of the match. Earlier, India won the toss and sent England in to bat. Indian bowlers restricted England to 198 for six in 50 overs.
