Dear Editor:
Please accept my sincerest gratitude for your having published my Demand For Publication OF Corrections letter, which you printed in your February 26, 1993 edition. By so doing, you have riven your readership the opportunity to learn more of the true and correct information regarding Sikh Dharma in the Western Hemisphere and Sin Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji.
Unfortunately, the two articles you published in your March 26, 1993 edition: “I am not afraid of militants, says Yogi Bhajan” and “WSN receives response from $.GP.C.” contain considerable false and misleading information. The central issue here is the legal legitimacy of ‘Sikh Dharma’ and the ‘Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma’. As you have previously been informed, since 1973 ‘Sikh Dharma” has been chartered by the federal government of the United States and also by the State of California as a religious corporation dedicated to the teachings of the principles of the Sikh Dharma in the Western Hemisphere, The chief religious and administrative authority of ‘Sikh Dharma’, in conformity with its bylaws, is the office of the Sir: Singh Sahib. That position is and, at all times since its inception, has been duly held by Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji (Yogi Bhajan).
It is well documented that the title of Bhai Sahib of Sikh Dharma was conferred upon Siri Singh Sahib. Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji on November 13, 1974. This honor and title were conferred with the recommendation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. It should be noted further that the ‘Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma’ is itself a religious corporation chartered the 1976 by the federal government of the United States and also by the government of the State of California as a ‘corporation sole”, a unique type Of corporation reserved for the presiding officer of a religious denomination for the purpose of administering and managing the affairs, property and temporalities thereof.” The headline in your above referenced edition is misleading in stating that World Sikh News has received a reply from the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. The letter published by you was from Harinder Singh Khalsa. That letter was written on Sardar Khalsa’s personal stationary and not on the official stationary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
The letter from Harinder Singh contains blatantly false information wherein it attributes comments to Sardar Tohra which read, “Mr. Harbhajan Singh Yogi was never awarded the tile of Bhai Sahib…” As previously indicated, the tile of Bhai Sahib of Sikh Dharma was conferred on November 13, 1974. First, the statement that you at tribute to alleged ‘political analysts’ that “Yogi had been sent…” to India by its Ambassador to America is totally false. In truth and in fact, Sin Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji (Yogi Bhajan) went to India recently at the invitation of numerous Gur Sikhs and various Such Sangats. Second, your article falsely states that “…the S.G.P.C. this time did not show much enthusiasm in receiving Yogi and his group.” Photographs and articles from venous newspapers in India unquestionably show that the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee as well as the Chief Khalsa Diwan and the Akali Dal received the Siri Singh Sahib Ji and the other members of this Yatra. It must be noted further that your headline which stated, “I am not afraid of militant, says Yogi Bhajan” distorts and misstates the actual quotation of Yogi Bhajan, The correct quote, set forth later in the article, reads, “I am not afraid of anyone,” Yogi Bhajan did not issue such a challenge but simply and as a matter of fact stated that he has no fear of “any man”, the true status of a Sikh of the Guru.
One thing is clear; The Sin Singh Sahib Ji is the Sin Singh Sahib because of his lifelong devotion to our Sikh Gurus. We will not be divided. Those who are with us are with us, Those who are not are not. Now is the time to stand together, to bring back the dignity and sacredness of our Holy Akal Takht and Harimandir Sahib. Let us go forward together as Khalsa brothers and sisters.
