LONDON (PTI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has condemned the bomb blasts in Bombay and warned that destabilization of India could lead to Balkanisation of the region.
Pakistan, which has problems of its own, would neither be interested in the disintegration of the Indian union nor could it gain from the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in India, Bhutto told newsmen at the foreign Press association meeting here. Islamabad had failed to accept the migrating Muslim Bihar is from Bangladesh and how would it cope with the situation if an influx of Muslims began from India in the face of rising Hindu fundamentalism, the Pakistan’s Peoples Party (PPP) leader said.
The former prime minister faced a volley of questions by western journalists about Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI’s, alleged involvement in the bomb blasts in Bombay. She did not refute the allegations but said India will have to produce concrete evidence of such allegations.
