NEW DELHI(PTI): The new B80vernor of the northern Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir,
General (Retd) K.V.Krishna Rao March 12 said he would accord topmost priority to restoration of democratic process in the militancy hit state. Emerging after extensive talks with federal home minister, S.B.Chavan and minister of state for internal security, Rajesh Pilot, Gen Krishna Rao told PTI his efforts would be directed towards restoring normalcy and winning back the support of the people.
Gen Krishna Rao left by a special aircraft along with top national conference and Congress (I) leaders for Jammu, the state winter capital where he will be sworn in at 1700 hours,
The new governor said, “Towards the end of restoring normalcy and democratic process, I would not mind any sacrifices or any amount of difficulties which Tam bound to face,” However, he made it clear that there would be no slackening of operations against the militants.
Gen Rao said he was a great believer of democracy and had no love for holding any office. ‘All my efforts would be directed at giving a humane face to the stale administration to end the alienation of the people of the state and bring them back to the national mainstream.”
