New Delhi: For the first time in recent in years the economic survey has revealed the foreign debt of the defence sector.
At the end of the march 1992, the debt on account of defence hardware purchased from the general currency area (GCA) amounted Dollars 2.18 billion while that in the rouble denominated area to dollars 8.9 billion rouble. The overall foreign debt during the first six months of the current year is estimated at 71 billion dollars, which, however excludes defence credits that were extended. Compared to this, the figure for the previous year was lower at 67.58 billion dollar.
