NEW DELHI: South Korea stormed into the semifinals of the Intercontinental cup women’s Hockey tournament with a thumping 60 win against China in the last group A League match here on Wednesday.
In their last Group B Match Wednesday, Spain chalked up a 61 win against Austria to have total of nine points, the same as Japan, However, a goal difference of plus 17, compared to Japan’s plus 12, gave Spain the top place.
In another pool B Match, the U.S. proved Pundits totally wrong with a convincing 42 win against India and clinched the third place in the Group, pushing the hosts down to the fourth.
In Group A, Ireland, who had a very remote chance of upsetting China for the second place, were forced by Scotland to settle for a 11 draw and the third place in the group. As strong team themselves, China had no chance Wednesday against the Koreans, who struck like a tornado, sweeping everything that came in their way, reports PTI.
