COLOMBO, Oct. 1, Reuter: Four men hurled two bombs at the headquarters of an opposition party on Thursday, injuring at least one man, police said.
They said the four, armed with knives, went to the two-story office of the leftwing Ceylon Socialist Party in Colombo and told about 60 people attending a party sponsored youth seminar not to leave the place.
“Don’t run. We have come to bomb your office,” witnesses quoted one of the men as saying.
One of the seminar participants hurt himself when he jumped out of the window, they said.
The explosion set on fire some newspapers and party documents but the fire brigade immediately put out the blaze, police said.
There were no party leaders present at the time of the incident, it said.
