LUDHIANA: — Surjit Singh Barnala and Jardey Singh Talwandi, presidents of the Akali Dal, Longowal and Talwandi faction respectively, met here to pave the way for achieving unity, PTI reports.
Talking to newsmen here, Barnala said the meeting was held in the most cordial atmosphere at the residence of Talwandi, this meeting would yield good results, he said.
Capt. (ret’d) Kanwaljit Singh accompanied Barnala and Mewa Singh Gill, a former member of the Parliament, and Arjan Singh a former member of legislative assembly, accompanied Talwando.
Barnala said he had almost met G. S. Tohra, president of the Sikh Management Committee (SGPC), detained in Naudaun rest house, and Capt. Amrinder Singh to decide on one to one candidate during the elections to the Los Sabha.
Barnala said he was confident of electoral adjustments with Janata Dal and other opposition parties to defeat the Congress (I).
