NEW DEATH: An estimated two hundred residents of Tailak Vihar demonstrated in front of the Prime Minister’s residence on July.
- They demanded the release of those who were arrested after last month’s violent clashes which left three people dead. In a memorandum addressed to the PM, they said the clashes on June 28 occurred without provocation. They were the handi work of a few elements who whipped up passions to spread communal hatred, it stated. It also demanded full abd liberal
compensation to the victims and the injured. The signatories to the memorandum included Sawami Agnivesh, president Bandhu Murti Morcha, Gurcharan Singh Babbar, general secretary of All India Sikh Conference, Jawahar Singh, a Janata Dal leader and four prominent leaders of the Harijan Basti.
