PATNA: Amidst an un presented uproar in Bikar Legislative Assembly, 59 opposition members were suspended for five working days and most of them were bodily lifted from the Houses in a tense atmosphere on June 12. The police stood by the foyers of the building. The motion of the suspention was moved by the Parliametary Affairs Minister, Tamasaran Prasad Singh.

It may be recalled that in the recent years members of the entire operation have been suspended twice in 1982 when chief minister Jagannath Mishra brought up the press bill and in 1986 on the question of the strike in Heavy Engineering corporation at Ranchi. Earlier in the day, opposition members tried to stall the proceedings for the third successive day on the issue of the killing of a Congress MLA Tarloki Harijan and the demand of the admission of an adjournment motion on it.
