SOLAPUR: Last year’s runners up Punjab girls became the new junior champions when they beat hosts Maharashtra 6351 after leading 3420 at the breather in the final of the Junior Basketball Tournament at the Home Maidan here.
Ina closely contested final, Maharashtra Birls failed to mark Punjab’s star shooter Meena Walia, who played her heart out. Maharashtra who had impressed one and all il the finals failed to deliver the goods ‘when it mattered most. Meena was at her irresistible best.
