It is a little known fact that one of the most secure and impenetrable prison in the world is built only twenty blocks from Wall Street, the world’s most famous financial trading center. The prison is a narrow building rising twelve stories and houses over one thousand detainees of the U.S. Government awaiting trails and final disposition of court cases. The prison is named Metropolitan Correctional Center. New York (M.C.C.).
On the ninth floor south side the maximum security floor of the prison we are prisoners and have been kept as detainees by U.S. government for almost three years and eight months awaiting extradition to India to face various charges. We won our case, blocking extradition request of Indian government in September 90, but request of extradition by Indian government was refiled last month.
Our struggle on behalf of all Sikhs continues and we write to all of our well-wishers today, with the undying flame of Khalistan in our hearts, to share some of our views regarding the Sikh struggle and also to highlight certain key issues that should be supported by all concerned Sikhs worldwide united in pursuit of our homeland.
The wartime suffering of our Civilians
The armed resistance inside Punjab from Sikhs today against the military occupation by the Indian Government is the direct consequence of the violent and oppressive measures employed by paramilitary forces, police and army which has been randomly maiming and killing Sikh civilians deliberately and with impunity now for over a decade,
It is tragic that innocent persons have been killed and their families made to suffer as a consequence of the Sikh resistance against the New Delhi occupation.
The Sikh Students Federation has raised its voice loud and clear, along with other militant organizations under the leadership of the Panthic Committee, who are spearheading the war of liberation, on the issue of innocent civilian killings.
In the spirit of a true Khalsa, all militant organizations and their followers are able to openly criticize and examine actions and tactics that are employed in the name of freedom … and in this spirit the Sikh militants have accepted that a number of its operations have become “petards” and have caused suffering among our own people. On this issue, the conscience of all Sikh organizations weigh heavily with burden as they continue to advance the struggle for national sovereignty and independence.
All Sikhs can be assured that the Sikh cause and the tactics employed to advance our cause are like two hearts beating within a single body, both hearts rely upon one another to keep the body alive, and one’s welfare and safety is as important to the other as to itself.
The organizations fighting for all Sikhs are continuously planning their logistics to protect civilians and safeguard against innocent bloodshed and are fully and painfully aware of the civilian suffering that has been unintentionally caused. We are also acutely aware of the exploitations of these tragedies by the opponents to the Sikh cause against whom the united armed struggle is waged. To all those persons who have suffered and to their families we extend our heartfelt love and prayers.
Establishment of Media Central Radio Khalistan
In order that the two hearts of the Sikh struggle, (the cause and those tactics employed for the Cause) may best in tandem with one another (and to deny our enemies the opportunity to exploit our suffering and turn one heart against the other) we need a state-of-the-art media and communication system for all Sikhs. A system is needed that is controlled within a media central headquarters from whose command all of our struggle achievements and sufferings can be Communicated on a “real time” (as they occur) basis.
We are fortunate and proud to have had the “World Sikh News” during proceeding six years…however, in the face of the hostile odds stacked against our Nationalistic newspaper which are funded by the giant government resources of New Delhi, we must supplement our ability to communicate via the most dramatic and important symbol of our cause to date, our own Rebel Radio Station.
The Sikh Rebel Radio System Radio Khalistan answers an exigent call for our cause and will prove to be one of the most important symbols of our struggle. The goal of Radio Khalistan is to inform, orient, agitate and organise all Sikhs within the revolutionary process into a unified, homogenous and powerful front with a single cogent voice.
Ina country such as ours where the illiteracy level is high, the traditional tools of political education newspapers, leaflets and pamphlets are not as effective as the “Broadcast Spoken Word”.
Just as so many political movements in history have successfully utilized Rebel Radio as an effective weapon for ideological confrontation, (as the United States has for years via Radio Free Europe in Eastern Europe and Radio Marti in Cuba) we also will employ the power of the Radio in a vital role for our cause.
Radio Khalistan will be able to convey the militant’s point of view to the popular movement and to translate this view into action;
Legitamise the actions of the popular movement, garner support for them and deepen the spirit and verve in the Khalistan struggle;
Provide accurate updates on political and military actions inside Punjab (including government troop movements to enable our people to escape counter insurgency operations.
Establish a news media radio forum that will become an ongoing source of information for international journalists;
Serve as an open airwave alternative source of information for the people that can dispute government propaganda sources and that can give the public an indispensable channel for debate and truth.
Addressing the New Delhi Propaganda call for dialogue
Recently people such as Professor Darshan Singh (who recently concluded western nations tour in support of the Government of India’s views) has attempted to confuse Sikh opinion in urging a dialogue between Sikhs and the New Delhi,
This call for dialogue is pretentious and disruptive to the Sikh struggle for Khalistan in the absence of a general withdrawal of government troops from Punjab,
The government of India is a historical celebrity at the world’s peace tables on behalf of other nations, Witness India’s call to South Africa, and Israel to sit down and negotiate the turning over of leadership reins to Palestinians and A.N.C, groups. Witness also the irony of India’s inability to successfully comply with its legendary promise to hand over to the Sikhs their own homeland.
The government of India is duplicitous when the Sikh issue is on the media agenda of the world’s press conferences…the government officials talk of “dialogue” with Sikhs while the very same government is oppressing the Sikh people by military occupation of their homeland.
The first step used in all of history’s legendary reconciliations, (including the bloodiest of wars rich in. bitterness and atrocities) is bringing the enemies to a peace making table. While this step will undoubtedly take place in the future between the Indian Government and Sikhs. .the Indian government is not presently of a mind to do this soon one hand, .New. Delhi: officials call for however, on the other hand, the same officials condemn “Sikh militants” as “person anongrata” (undesirables) at the negotiation table because they (militants) are “bloodstained” and “outside the circle of civilized political discourse”…
We are aware that labels and terms are political ploys to play honest folk into the hands of vested interests,
“Bloodiness” and “terrorists” are terms utilized from a safe distance from the center of the passionate stage of liberation movements, and precisely at what distance a “guerilla” becomes a “terrorist” depends strictly on the “AD. Hominum” ability (to incite Passions and prejudices with intent of distracting the attention away from issues of the listeners..)
The Sikhs can stand proud on their record as compared with that of the PLO (before Arafat renounced terrorism) and that of the ANC (recently bombing shopping centers)…
The Sikh militants deserve no less their privilege and right at the bargaining table to demarcate the future homeland of the Sikhs with the Indian Government as is being demanded by the Indian Government on behalf of the P.L.O. and. A.N.C. to demarcate Israel and South Africa.
The nonentity to serious discourse between the Indian Government and the Sikh militants only, underscores the pressure: that is coming to bear upon New Delhi by the success o! Stthe Sikhs in their effort to win their homeland.
The Rebel Radio Khalistan will be a powerful voice for the Sikhs that: must, be underwritten, by all Sikhs and undertaken immediately, so that all Sikhs may share common ground to properly understand the issues at hand and to avoid being played into the hands of false image Akalis and Indian government puppets…
Just as the night is always darkest, before the: break of the first, light “We are now closer to our victory than ever before…
Let us speak forth with one voice through our own media Communication Center Radio Khalistan and let us not follow any course of action that falls short of complete independence and the,, Sikh Homeland Khalistan…
