CALCUTTA: A homoeopathic drug “Laches’s” may well provide the long awaited cure for AIDS, says a noted researcher in this field.

Dr Bhairab Bhattacharya of the Princeton University, USA, says the drug “Lachesis” is related to a snake venom.

Stating that the drug may very well have the potential for a vaccine protecting the cd4 epitopes for the AIDS virus conjunction, Dr Bhattacharya who had recently delivered here the P.K.Banerjee memorial lecture, said a thorough study of the drug be made before using it as a therapy.

Homoeopathic doctors in India, he said, had received government assistance for a project to test this drug on AIDS patients and the Indian Council of Medical Research monitoring it.

Dr Bhattacharya, chemotherapeutic researches AIDS’ chéthotherapentic research project, however, said researchers were, however, surprised that no scientific research data had been put forward before undertaking such a serious project involving humans.

These peptides would control the HIV infection in human beings and AIDS patients might be cured using a higher dose of the agonistic. Dr Bhattacharya said.
