TURLOCK: Ex Hockey Olympian Captain Rattan Singh expired at Leister in U.K a few days back. He was 81 years old. Captain Singh was the member of the Indian Hockey Team which won a gold medal in 1936 at Berlin (Germany). Captain Rattan Singh was the father-in-law of Mohinder S. Gill, also an ex Olympian now an owner of a flourishing sports business at Turlock.
Captain Singh who was born in a tiny village in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan) migrated to UK in 1961 and settled in Leister. He successfully managed and coached a Hockey Club of Leister County from 1965 to 1975.
Captain Rattan Singh leaves behind two sons Jastinder and Harbinder, three daughters Narinder Gill (w/o Mohinder Gill) Kamal and Davinder (Simi) and large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his death:
