CHANDIGARH: The Unified Akali Dal leader Sukhjinder Singh now lodged in Agartala jail has opposed the entry of former Finance Minister Balwant Singh in the party. Balwant Singh has been expelled from the Akali dal Longowal. In a statement released through his son Sukhwant Singh who has recently met him. Sukhjinder said that Balwant Singh was an example of political opportunism and could not be trusted. Sukhjinder Singh said that Balwant Singh would not hesitate to betray the panth if it suited him. He said that Balwant Singh’s past record was not easy to forget but people should not lose sight of the threat the manner in which he has betrayed his best friends and allies.
The detained leader said UJ former Chief Minister Surjit Sing it Barnala, Finance Minister was also a party to the police entry into the Golden Temple complex during the Akali Rule. Finance Minister has praised the government for operation Bluestar in writing and ensured disqualification of certain M.L.A.s for his selfish interest.
Sukhjinder Singh fully supported the idea of unity and he was all for unity of principles and not to advance political opportunities of certain individuals.
